At GrayConnect, we set up mini cell towers that address multiple business issues.
1) Improve cell phone Wireless coverage where traditional cell towers have a weak signal for data coverage.
2) (Optional) Create a secure public WiFi that doesn't access internal corporate data. This need is common for businesses with free public WiFi, which requires the name and password to be shared.
3) (Optional) Remove the need to give out the public WiFi password. A customer portal is used to allow people to connect for free and accept the terms and conditions for using the WiFi, thereby removing the business from potential liabilities.
4) Creates some passive income for the small business. Carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile need to improve their coverage and don't want to build more towers. Instead, they will pay to use the mini cell tower, and Gray Connect pays the host half of the money it collects from the phone carriers.
Major wireless carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, and Google Fi stand behind the service.
Gray Connect is completely free for businesses! We provide the hardware, and power costs are negligible—just a few cents annually. We reduce risk for hosts by covering the cost of the device; all you need to do is host it.
It varies based on how many people use the cellular service. Most businesses, even those relying on fast internet, notice no impact on their network speeds.
All data is encrypted, and the mini cell tower is locked down to only access the internet, ensuring no devices on your local network are exposed. Gray Connect monitors the equipment and works with your IT team (if you have one) to resolve any issues quickly.
The mini tower should be near where people use their phones. We’ll assess your location to find the best spot that maximizes coverage while fitting your business’s setup.
1) A physical fiber or cable internet connection to power the mini cell tower.
2) A location with active mobile data users, like coffee shops, gyms, laundromats, or retail areas where customers from nearby stores use data.
Earnings depend on usage—more users, more revenue. Carriers pay roughly $0.30–$0.50 per gigabyte of data used through the mini cell tower.
